C-PATH and CDISC Launch Version 1.0 of the Polycystic Kidney Disease Therapeutic User Guide

Tucson, AZ , Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 17, 2013

New Guide to Assist in the Collection, Aggregation, and Submission of Clinical Trial Data.

Critical Path Institutes (C-Path) Polycystic Kidney Disease Outcomes Consortium (PKDOC) (http://www.c-path.org/pkd.cfm) , the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC), and the PKD Foundation announced this day the launch of version 1.0 of the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Therapeutic Area User Guide, a clinical data standard that provides guidance on the implementation of the CDISC Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) to represent PKD data in regulatory submissions. This individual guide, when used with the SDTM, is intended to guide the organization, structure, and format of standard PKD clinical trial info datasets submitted to a regulatory dominance such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This clinical data standard has also been used to aggregate data from several PKD patient registries and empiric studies to examine disease progression in PKD. The development of the PKD Data Standard represents a major step forward in the development of therapies for PKD, stated Ron Perrone, Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine, and Director of the Tufts Center for PKD and Co-Director of the PKDOC. This kidney disease specific standard will shorten the time for initiation of clinical trials and will assist data interchange with regulatory agencies, thereby helping to speed the pace of therapeutics development and potentially improving outcomes for patients. Perrone is also a member of the PKD Foundations Scientific Advisory Committee. The PKD Foundation provided funding for the PKDOC and the CDISC standards development effort.

CDISC standards are freely acquirable via the CDISC website. To learn more about the PKD Therapeutic Area User Guide and to download the associated standards package, please visit the CDISC website: http://www.cdisc.org/therapeutic.

This release marks another major milestone in the development of a set of global, platform-independent therapeutic area data standards. The way we were healthy to work with academic clinicians from Emory University, the Mayo Clinic, Tufts University and the University of Colorado-Denver to develop and reach consensus on PKD data elements was ground breaking for us. CDISC is delighted to have contributed its standards expertise to this project, which led to an improved process for therapeutic area standards development for the benefit of PKD patients, researchers, drug developers and regulatory agencies around the world, stated Bron Kisler, VP of Strategic Initiatives for CDISC. C-Path and CDISC formed a partnership in 2012 to establish the Coalition For Accelerating Standards and Therapies (CFAST), an initiative to accelerate clinical research and medical product development by creating and maintaining data standards, tools and methods for conducting research in therapeutic areas that are important to public health. CFAST seeks to bring together expertise from NIH Institutes, academic medical centers and patient foundations with that of global biopharmaceutical companies. CFAST continues to receive terminology expertise and support from the National Cancer Institutes Enterprise Vocabulary Services (NCI EVS), including the PKD Project.

This project would not have been doable without the generous support of the PKD Foundation and the many contributions by PKDOC member clinicians, scientists, C-Path and CDISC staff and volunteers. This team developed the data standard and converted legacy data to aggregate information from multiple sources which is now being used to develop new tools to examine and comprehend PKD , stated Martha Brumfield, CEO and President of C-Path.

Madwire Media Announces the Launch of Five New Websites for Today?s Hottest Trends and Hobbies

Madwire Media Announces the Launch of Five New Websites for Today’s Hottest Trends and Hobbies

Loveland, CO (PRWEB) August 09, 2011

Madwire Media recently designed and launched five uncommon new websites for five one-of-a-kind companies. These five websites represent a growing trend in society, which proves that average consumers are now looking for above-average, one-of-a-kind products.

Toxic Cotton http://www.toxiccotton.com/ is a website that sells graphic tee shirts. While graphic tees have risen in popularity over the past few years, these shirts aim to be different by offering never-before-seen designs and interesting artwork. They even have a design contest happening now, the winner of which will be awarded one hundred dollars.

Another purveyor of the graphic print tee shirt, Korban Klothing http://www.korbanklothing.com/, puts an uncommon spin on the graphic tee: they display Bible verses, quotes, and more. Korban Klothing helps the wearer of their clothing to proudly proclaim their religious affiliation to the world. Korban Klothing’s website is clean and displays the same positive message as their clothing.

Madwire Media has designed hundreds of websites, but they hadn’t really ever came across anything like Hax Pheroceuticals. For Hax Pheroceuticals, makers of the Wingman Pheromone http://wingmanpheromones.com/, Madwire Media needed to pull out all the stops to design a one-of-a-kind and engaging website, something to match the uncommon product being sold.

Another very uncommon website recently designed by Madwire Media is Play With Carbon http://www.playwithcarbon.com/. Play with Carbon offers innovators and designers the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality with their carbon fiber and fiberglass kits. Play With Carbon’s website caters to a specific niche market. Shoppers on the site will find it very easily navigable and interesting.

Everyone has heard of trick skateboarding, but not everyone has heard of trick scooters. Kryptic Pro Scooters http://www.krypticproscooters.com/ decided to capitalize on this one-of-a-kind intent by building a website where people who are interested in pro scooters could not only build and purchase their own pro scooters, but also follow a professional team of scooter riders. Madwire Media designed for them a clean website with an edgy feel.

Madwire Media designs around 200 beautiful websites a month. With over 70 talented staff on hand, Madwire is healthy to accomplish phenomenal results for their clients. With innovative website design, inbound targeted SEO marketing, brand identity, and social media, they seem do it all, and do it well. Visit their website at http://www.madwirewebdesign.com

BBC World Service: site launch

A few nice writing website content images I found:

BBC World Service: site launch
writing website content
Site Address: www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/bangladeshboat/
This post is blogged at: dharmafly.com/blog/bangladeshboat

Phew! Dharmafly has been busy these last three weeks! From commission to launch in just 12 working days (and nights)…

The Bangladesh River Journey is a mashup of posts from a BBC World Service trip to track the effects of climate change in Bangladesh. The trip lasts a month, with pictures being posted to Flickr, messages sent to Twitter and journal entries prefabricated on the World Service site. The mashup puts all these posts on to a map, letting you navigate around and follow the trip.

The journalists are equipped with a GPS navigation device. Each time they visit a new location, they post their co-ordinates to the Twitter stream (e.g. this post). Our system then logs the coordinates and applies them to apiece photo, tweet and diary entry until the next location.

In addition to what you see in the browser, there are a number of gems hidden under the hood… (Non-techie folk might happily skip this 🙂

Microformats are new, developing standards for adding extra meaning to the HTML of a web page. They create all sorts of possibilities for software (from search engines to browsers) to interact with the content in new and useful ways.

The HTML for apiece Twitter, Flickr and diary post in the Bangladesh River Journey is written using the hAtom microformat. This means, for example, that an RSS feed can be generated directly from the HTML on the page.

If you use the Firefox browser, you can explore other microformats on the Bangladesh Boat site, with the excellent Operator extension. You’ll find xFolk bookmarks, geo locations, hCard contacts and tagged links.

The site’s RSS feed grants users to stay up-to-date with new posts, without needing to re-visit the site (we talked about using RSS in a previous post).

The feed is encoded with the geo coordinates of apiece post (this is called GeoRSS). Some interesting things can then be done with the feed, such as plotting it straight on to Google Maps.

Part of the task was to build an API – a way for web developers to access the data in the system, to create their own mashup applications. This will be promoted through BBC Backstage – the BBC’s hub for exploring new media technology.
