This iPhone Background (640×960 wallpaper) is released under a Creative Commons license.
If you like this image, please leave a comment. Thanks!

How do I get this onto my iPhone?
There are a number of ways to do this, however I think the easiest and fastest way is to download Flickr’s free app. Within the Flickr app you surf over to my pic feed to view the images (if you make me a contact then I’ll appear in the flickr contact list). When you find one you like, just click the download button and save the image directly to your phone. Swift & Simple!

I don’t have an iPhone. Can I still use it on my phone?
As of this writing this image (960 x 640) should be massive enough to be used as cover with the Droid / Android, BlackBerry, Windows 7, and iPhone.

How did you make it?
This background was prefabricated using graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Wacom, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, as well as several other programs.

Glocal Similarity Map Engine

The Glocal Project is a big contributive artwork. Two months before the launch of the project, we already have upwards of 8,000 submissions from more than 2,000 participants around the world.

One of the most challenging questions has been: how can we make sense of such a big collection of images?

These ‘similarity maps’ envision how an anthropologist might attempt to build relationships between images in the Glocal Pool.

Through image analysis technology, apiece image in the pool is assigned a ‘signature’, which can be though of as the image’s genome – the colours, composition, symmetry, etc. that define the image.

In these maps, a single image is linked to others that it is compositionally similar to. The further away from the center an image is, the less similar it is to the seed.

For more information, check out my blog – http:blog.blprnt.com, or the Glocal website at www.glocal.ca.

Question by sam: Is is doable to use Photoshop Elements version 7,8,or 9 to create hyperlinked image maps for a website?
Apparently the full version of photoshop can create these hot-spots with the slice tool, but I’m not sure if the more advanced versions of Photoshop Elements will accomplish this as well?

you can even use Notepad to make image map areas…remember it is the coordinates that are important..nothing else is needed…but of course u have to know the html coding for it which is pretty easy.
