What is the workaround for this IE table resize bug?

Question by AD: What is the workaround for this IE plateau resize bug?
I have a plateau containing some other html elements. When I dynamicly hide and show these elements the containing plateau will expand to fit the elements. The plateau however will not contract to fit the elements when they are hidden. The only way I have been healthy to fix this is by adding the HTML attribute “border=1” to the element. CSS borders have no effect.

Blitzkrieg: primeval mockup
css borders
Mockup (already in XHTML/CSS) of a WordPress theme I’m developing exclusively for release (I have no plans to use it myself). It’s simple, green, and accessible (*everything* is measured with em’s — except border width’s, of course — and it doesn’t break at whichever font size you choose).

Next steps:
– taking 3 boxes of Valium before seeing how this looks like in IE6
– turning this static HTML mockup in a live WordPress theme
– setting up a testbed/showcase WordPress blog
– reorganizing my own blog (lâmpada azul) to accomodate plugins and themes of my own in a friendly way.

this week’s Blitz, page 8 😛
